Good questions, straight answers

Booking, warranty and getting paid

How far ahead should a non-urgent job be booked in?

A week or two out gets you the widest choice of times for something like a tap swap or a fit-out, while a genuinely urgent job still gets seen the same day regardless of the calendar.

If the work fails months down the track, what actually happens next?

You call in exactly the same way you would for a new job, and the Lifetime Labour Warranty covers our own workmanship, so a genuine defect gets corrected without another invoice landing on you.

What payment options are on the table, and when does payment actually fall due?

Card, cash and payment plans are all accepted, and because the price gets agreed in writing before the job starts, paying on the day simply settles the price you already signed off on.

The property's tenanted, not owner-occupied. Can a job still proceed?

Yes, once the owner or property manager signs off on anything beyond a like-for-like repair, and we're happy to deal directly with whoever manages the property on the quote.

Does the warranty cover parts that get fitted, or only the labour side of a job?

Labour's covered for life under our own warranty, so a fault in how the job was done is on us, while manufacturer warranties on the parts themselves are a separate, brand-specific matter.

Once the work starts

What happens if a second, unrelated problem turns up mid-job?

Work pauses, you're told exactly what's been found, and the extra job gets priced separately so you decide whether it goes ahead, nothing gets added without your sign-off first.

Could a sudden spike in the water bill mean a hidden leak?

It's a genuine red flag, a leak inside a wall or under a slab can run for weeks without a visible drop anywhere, so we test properly rather than take a guess at the cause.

Does plumbing on an older home ever need council sign-off?

Most repairs and like-for-like replacements don't, since the plumbing code already covers those, though a full re-stump or a major drainage relocation sometimes does, and that gets flagged upfront if yours applies.

What's worth having ready before the plumber actually turns up?

Clear access to the work area helps most, and knowing where the water meter and main shutoff sit is useful, though if you don't, just describe the problem and we'll take it from there.

Nobody's home during the day. Can outdoor work still go ahead?

Often, yes, most yard and external jobs only need clear access rather than someone standing over the plumber, though we'll always call ahead if getting inside turns out to be necessary.

Questions we hear from around Bayview

Does soft water locally mean plumbing gear here lasts longer than in other parts of Sydney?

In one sense, yes, scale build-up rarely finishes off a Bayview system, though salt air and age still take their toll, so soft water changes the cause of failure rather than removing it.

We're mid knockdown-rebuild on a waterfront block. Does the new house need an entirely fresh plumbing system?

Generally, yes, a full rebuild gets supply and drainage sized for the finished home from scratch rather than reusing anything from the original, and that gets planned in from the earliest stage.

Our block is terraced with retaining walls holding back each level. Does a burst pipe put those walls at real risk?

It can, water finding its way behind a retaining wall on a terraced property is a genuine structural concern, which is why a suspected leak on sloped ground gets treated as urgent.

With well over a metre of rain some years and heavy tree canopy, do stormwater pits actually need regular clearing here?

Yes, autumn leaf-drop from the hillside canopy loads pits and grates fast, and a seasonal clear before the wetter months genuinely reduces the chance of a surcharge during a heavy downpour.

Bayview Gardens retirement village resident booking routine, non-urgent maintenance. Does village management need to be involved?

Usually, yes, for anything beyond a straightforward in-unit repair we'll coordinate timing with village management directly, so the visit fits around the building's own access arrangements.

Still got a question?

Call (02) 9072 0511 and put it straight to a licensed plumber, not a form or an answering machine. The visit costs $0, the price lands in writing before any work starts, and every job carries our Lifetime Labour Warranty.
